What are the markets on the worst case scenario happening?

  1. GOP rush through RBG’s replacement.
  2. Roe, civil rights, LGTBQI rights, and any lasting shred of democratic process are destroyed.
  3. Trump wins the election/loses but refuses to leave office anyway aided and abetted by the legislature and judiciary.
  4. America continues its descent into a failed plague state and very possibly civil war with the far right sporting massive genocidal erections knowing they are openly supported by the President and all branches of law enforcement.
  5. Centrists and Liberals will go on endlessly about procedural norms, hypocrisy, horseshoe theory, the polarisation of views and the dangers of Antifa. Most will choose to openly embrace the new regime but even those who don't will continue unashamedly even whilst they're being rounded up and executed. Their cries of "but if only we were warned!" will be the last you hear of them.
  6. The three nations best able to project military power in the world are now totalitarian dictatorships run by hateful megalomaniacs and humanity is fucked, probably sooner than later.

What about China? China is bad. China is a totalitarian one party state that persecutes minorities in concentration camps and projects soft power around the world to achieve its aims. The USA is 75% of the way there. It'll be 100% of the way if the above happens.

What does this have to do with Australia? Lots. Not only that, I'm a normal human being and am capable of empathising with other people. I also have friends and family in the US. None of them are far right white supremacists. They are all in danger. One of the chief facilitators of the above also has immense power in Australia. Probably even more than he does in America. Australian governments have shown they look to America for policy inspiration. What's good for far right views in the US, is good for far views around the anglosphere.

Anyway. I slept until 540am this morning which is a lot like a sleep in for me. I've worked out and will now have breakfast. Feels a bit like I've wasted half the day. Happy Sunday!~
