Taken a left in a trucks blind spot, WCGW?

Funny but I actually had a friend that received part fault in an accident where a lady ran a red light but my friend was distracted talking on the phone so he didn't see her, jumped off the line when the light turned green and accelerated into her vehicle. She was clearly in the wrong for running the light, but if he had been paying attention he would've had the ability to prevent the accident from happening at all. I think the outcome was 30% him, 70% the other driver. So right of way didn't matter if you have the opportunity to evade a collision and either choose not to or are distracted in a way that prevents you from evading. Now I don't think this applies in this scenario because there's no good goddamn way for that truck to see that vehicle, but just know that insurance matters are often anything but common sense.
