‘Taking the knee’ is... A political statement that goes beyond simply expressing opposition to racism: 40% An apolitical statement that simply expresses opposition to racism and nothing more: 39% Don’t know: 21%

As with most everything else in UK politics in the last ten years, the public divide is almost 50/50 with small minority of undecideds being the more interesting part of the equation. Are we generally a right wing nationalist country called England (one day breaking away from the UK or having it break away from England). Or a more liberal socially concsious outward looking country called the United Kingdom.

For a decade a small minority of "don't knows" have seemed to hold the answer to everything.

My answer is it is about racism. It always 2as about racism. Those boos prove the need. Football itself is completely and utterly marred by racism. Your own fans booing you because you dare to express an opinion?

Pathetic. Best fans in the world booing their own side for taking a knee in support and solidarity of those effected by racism.... You know like some of the players themselves.... Who have been abused by fans..... While on the pitch.....

I think the game needs to take a long hard look at itself.
