Is taking magic mushrooms a sin?

I have personally benefited from them in tremendous ways. My anxiety and depression got way more under control, I became heavily appreciative of learning more, I hit the gym, and I could see the beauty in life to the point where my heart became open to revert back to the Catholic faith. That’s not to say that you shouldn’t be insanely careful with these substances. You can really go overboard and harm and open the possibility of psychosis, schizophrenia, and repressed mental health issues. I also believe with my faith that they should not be used as spiritual tools, but rather a therapy that does good things to the mind, not the soul. It is, after all, chemical; therefore, I don’t see it being a valid tool for spirituality as a means of praying or worship because it’s an earthly substance. Don’t use it to open yourself to spiritual forces because it’s just a chemical reaction, but also don’t use it as a ritual to invite bad forces either.

I think that it’s uses being strictly therapeutic as a medicine like an antidepressant is fine, and also to the point where you’re not taking such a high dose where you are 100% surrendering yourself to something else.
