Taking Nalidays (Naltrexone Holidays)

Of course it is the choice of the person involved, as I have stated, and I have no problem with that.

It's nothing to do with confronting you, and more to do with doing everything to discourage someone who is finding success with TSM from straying away from the method because science tells us that it just doesn't end well. X does not follow the prescribing TSM protocol in the same way as a diabetic would not follow theirs if they stopped and started their insulin. And the picture his post paints is not of someone who has control over their drinking as a result of stopping the naltrexone. The experience he gives us is of someone whose drinking escalates and escalates until something happens that means he considers stopping again. He is happy with that, and that is absolutely fine, but this concept of someone can always go back to nal and it will always work again is something that is not in keeping with the science of TSM. That was my point, and he is a good example of drinking without the naltrexone in that he will always need to go back to it - assuming of course that his nightly half pint of vodka on an empty stomach, plus the rest doesn't kill him first.

Once the person has had an informed discussion about all the options of staying on naltrexone and understand the severity of drinking off the naltrexone, then it is absolutely up to them how they move forward, which is what 'X' is doing, and the OP will make his decision one way or the other.

The forum is full of tales from others warning of the disaster of drinking without the medication - doing so catches up with them eventually. They all thought they were the exception to the rule, and they weren't. If the OP here is aware of the full consequences of drinking off the nal, then they have more information to base their ultimate decision on.

It is (almost always) not a pretty picture out there for those that drink off the nal. That is what I was trying to get across.
