I think it comes from the knee jerk reaction we get to no longer having full control of our body when the come-up is so quick and strong. That’s a lot of weed, all at once, entering the bloodstream and slamming into the brain. You’re hit with a bunch of new sensations and smells, and you’re maybe nauseous, and light is too bright, and suddenly you don’t think so good no more, and you get real tired, and you can’t remember what you’re doing or where your ride is, so you freak yourself out and remember all those horror stories about getting too high and lose your mind with paranoia. When in reality, nothing really is going to happen at that high a dose worse than you getting high and probably being high for a long time.

Not that being totally zen in life would make it so you could eat as many edibles as you want, necessarily. But I do think having the knowledge when you’re sober that even the Omega-High, the mightiest and most terrible of all highs, is temporary and largely non-damaging all things considered, it’s a little easier to hunker down and get through consuming too much THC at once if it happens on accident or something.
