Yep. Don't forget that that 80 Billion or whatever was spend in the United States to pay US citizens. The difference is that the Humvee gets shipped overseas when the same resources could have built a couple of cars that could have stayed in the US, increasing the standard of living.

If you build a road in Afghanistan, that's a road you could have built in the US. A building on a military base could have been built in an American city.

It's not about the monetary value, it's about the production capacity of the US and where those products end up. As long as the US isn't in danger of being invaded, I'd rather see our productive capacity being used to better the lives of our own citizens.
