Haha, really? In most countries it doesn't work like that at all at all.

And do you even know why such a system is in the place? Women didn't have a career and they were the SAHP in the past (usually still up to this day). While men advanced in their career, they were home, working for "free", not making any money. They were raising the kids, doing chores, supporting the husband. So why shouldn't they get half of what you earned during these years? You were a team and this was your contract.

For the man, a divorce doesn't change much. He's still got his job, and he usually gets at least partial custody. However, what should the woman do? She doesn't have any savings really due to not working much, she doesn't have a real career, and after so many years, it's often hard to get back into the work force. So on top of everything she should be left with nothing? Yeah, you're a great guy.
