Talk to a doctor before making the decision to have a baby

Before COVID, I was getting annual check ups and my doctor ordered tests like rubella antibodies etc. to have things ready for… when we’re ready. That was for general health.

You are upsetting people because your post comes off as implying that if people saw their doctor before TTC, they wouldn’t have issues conceiving. Or that somehow if they had consulted their doctor, they would be able to conceive easily and it would’ve made a huge difference. The reality is, people can experience infertility while being completely healthy otherwise. Some issues with fertility aren’t known unless you look specifically for it. And other people experience unexplained infertility with no obvious cause.

TTC is HARD whether you’ve consulted with a doctor prior or not, whether you’re perfect healthy or not. People who conceive easily are simply LUCKY. Because ultimately when you’re healthy it all comes down to luck, health aside.

And you have no idea, there are probably many people who have been to see their doctor MANY times. Having consulted with a doctor wouldn’t have necessarily made a difference because many doctors want you to try 6-12 months before further fertility testing.

You are assuming lots, assuming seeing a doctor before hand is a “quick fix” for a “simple” problem and painting people with a general brush so that is coming off as (and is) extremely insensitive. You don’t know their circumstances, so don’t assume.
