I live in Eugene. I'm a parent. I have had dozens of interns from UO. They tend to be under motivated and smoke a lot of weed. They also complain about the lack of study culture. When walking around campus buildings, I never see anyone study.

I am not judging one way or another; for some that would be a dream come true and for others a nightmare.

Those UCs are great academically but don't have the sports culture you mention.

UW has sports stuff and is more serious about school if that interests you.

If chill academics and dabs are more your thing, go UO - also, much slower pace of life than UW.

If you haven't visited those schools I strongly recommend it.
