Talko Tuesday

OK super petty moment - I just got a kitchenaid stand mixer that i've been wanting for over a decade. I used the money my faculty gave me when I got laid off earlier this year to get it and it was a really special moment for me. I do all the holiday baking and make everyone's birthday cakes in my family and this will actually help make me a better cook.

My sister-in-law sees that I got one, mentions she wants one too and so now she's got one. That's it. No saving, no waiting, she bakes once a year or maybe twice if she makes my brother's birthday cake. Usually she buys her daughters cakes or I make them.

It's so dumb and doesn't make any sense, but I had to wait more than a fucking decade til I could afford it because I always have to pay rent and car payments and everything else by myself rather than sharing it with a husband or partner. I will never be able to afford a house in my city until my parents die and I get an inheritance.

It's so frustrating. Even the little things are hard when you're solo. Wish I had someone to drop $350 on a Christmas gift for me that I'd barely even use.
