Dude I'm preparing for UPSC. Being patriotic doesn't mean you have to avoid the truth. There is small space to support the scientists. There are so many kinds of scietist. Why are you specific about space scientists? Just ask a simple question to yourself. How will a Mangal and Chandrayaan make people's lives better? A navigation system is a very urgent need to the nation and that will actually help people. Why don't we have a global navigation system like GPS in the US, GLONASS in Russia, GALILEO in EU? These brilliant scientists' minds can be used to build nation. But they are sometimes being used for flaunting nationalism and political reasons. All I am saying we are not focusing on our priorities.
