Tasty waste solution - scientists convert used plastic bottles into valuable vanilla flavouring

All this because companies like Nestlé pollute the earth on an unimaginable scale. I'm sure there is a dystopian idea on r/scificoncepts about what happens when the consumer is guilted into eating food made from plastic waste.

Don't get me wrong, any and all ways to save the planet is great, and I'm sure all of this is very similar to naturally sourced vanilla extract. But the article emphasises that this is great because plastic bottles lose 95% of their value when they're recycled. This is just another way for companies to make money.

We wouldn't be in such a dire place if companies hadn't lied to the consumer about what recycling can and can't do. They shifted the blame onto us and did nothing but pat themselves on the back.
