Tax SUVs out of existence

VED surcharge of £300 a year for 5 years for cars with a list price of over £40,000. That’s £7000 VAT on a £33000 car. Then add an extra £1500 VED surcharge.

Higher rate of VED is already based on emissions which a directly proportionate to the weight of the car.

Where do you draw the line? Should we tax poor people who have energy inefficient houses? Tax people that buy 3 pairs of trainers per year? Allow a smaller 4L BMW to rip round the cities. Should we tax fat families who drive small cars which contribute more to potholes than skinny people who drive small cars?

Do you tax based on post code? Rural roads don’t get gritted.

Grow up. Let people enjoy their money. Scotland is full of angry, poor but self entitled plebs intent on over-taxing the “wealthy” which is anyone who has more than them.

I’m glad VED is a reserved matter. Get it up ye.
