A taxi driver saved an elderly woman from being scammed out of $25,000

Since it looks like we're doing stories, had an elderly client (85) who hosts a website with us call and tell us she was concerned about the hackers on her site. I looked into it and told her I don't see any issues and what the problem was. Turns out her "computer guys" were telling here that they had detected hackers on her system. Odd. So we talk for a good hour trying to get to the bottom of the problem. Turns out her computer guys were an Indian group that had fleeced her for tens of thousands of dollars over the last several years. She was fooled by one of the internet ads claiming she had a virus and had given them access to her computer. Over the following years they billed her $400 to $2000 a time fixing non-existant issues or issues that they had created. I told her not to pay the last bill and to contact apple asap. Sure enough, when she didn't pay her bill the computer became unusable until apple came in and reset the whole computer. She was out well over $10,000 to these guys.
