Taxi owners sue New York City as Uber 'eviscerates' their industry

you want logic: from the NYC taxi and limousine commission website: “A taxicab medallion is not only a valuable asset, it is also a license from the Taxi and Limousine Commission to operate a New York City taxicab.” important words: a license to operate a New York City taxicab. NYC is selling the right to drive a taxicab in NYC. that's it. It's not promising a livelihood, nor a rainbow.

from wikipedia: “With more drivers than passengers, cab drivers were working longer hours which led to growing public concern over the maintenance and mechanical integrity of taxi vehicles.”

important words: maintenance and mechanical integrity of taxi vehicles. People wanted safe cars.

colonelpanic420: “has not enacted legislation banning lyft and uber. It's essentially a breach of contract.” is the city required to enact legislation banning lyft and uber? no. did the city promise that only taxicabs can pick up fares? no. They couldn’t predict the rise of uber or lyft. *technology happens buddy, grow up.

colonelpanic420: “Uber Joe and Lyft Larry who are taking fares in their unlicensed personal vehicles aren't subject to the outlay required to get one.” uber joe and left larry aren’t legally required to buy one, smuck!

colonelpanic420: “The whole point of the medallion system is to artificially limit the number of taxicabs in NYC” yes, and it’s working. uber and Lyft aren’t taxicabs.

wikipedia: “On March 3, 2015, U.S. District Judge Nitza I. Quinones Alejandro denied a motion for a preliminary injunction against Uber” there is no legal definition for what uber is. take it up with your legislator not uber, dummy

you’re the one using illogical arguments for bringing up all kinds of shit about feelings: colonelpanic420 “”Progress is painful." Like these people shouldn't be allowed to make a living anymore because of fucking Uber? "Progress is painful." I can't fucking believe how obtuse you're being here. Poverty is fucking painful too, for fuck's sake.”

You should go live in pony land and ask them to teach you to reason, yahoo.
