Do you teach your sons how to fight? If so, how and when?

If you just want to do it at home, go into a relatively empty room or out into the yard if you have one and wrestle, roughhouse and otherwise throw each other around a bit. That'll put them a step ahead of most other kids their age, except for the ones who do the same thing. If they do get into a fight, they'll add the punches and kicks in themselves. Don't discourage anything - Let them cheat, turn headlocks into chokeholds and all that other crap. Just make sure you all know how to surrender (tap out) and make it stop when the going gets tough.

- how my dad taught me how to fight, got me through an interesting year at my first high school.
