Teacher fired after dragging autistic child across the floor.

As mom to a severely non verbal autistic child, I would absolutely lose my shit of anyone dragged or physically restrained my son. Wtf!!!

Having read every reply on this thread, I'm pretty shocked by some of the ignorant comments. How can it be 2018 and yet folks still think it's ok to call special needs kids retards??? How would you feel if this happened to your own kids? And it could. Some of these kids inherited the shallow end of the gene pool, but they deserve to be treated with respect and empathy.

With that said... My so is in 8th grade. He has been in a very supportive and detailed IEP since kindergarten. In a regular classroom for most of each day. He was also integrated into the special ed program/classes that focused on life skills. We've never once had a complaint from students or staff. They love him, and when he graduated elementary school, his EA and teacher cried. But...he is an easy autistic without behaviour issues. That's not to say he hasn't had a few meltdowns, though extremely rare. We've been lucky that his Ea's recognized when he would start to become overstimulated and take him somewhere quiet or to play.

Would I homeschool? Absolutely not. I cannot provide the training or learning he needs. I provide love, basic skills and needs. He has responded amazingly in the education system.

I applaud the dedicated teachers and support staff for the incredible job they do.
