Teachers of Reddit, what is wrong with modern education ?

I did band all 4 years of highschool, section leader 3 of those years in addition to school chorus, an after school choral group, Honors society, I went to state solo and ensemble my last 2 years of highschool while taking private lessons. In my off time I played hours of video games and hung out with friends. I graduated with above a 4.0 and had a scholarship offer to Florida State in clarinet performance and a separate offer for being a vocal major if I decided to go that direction. I graduated with 3 semesters worth of college credit. So I almost finished my associates degree before my highschool diploma. I didn't go full Dual because I wanted to stay in my highschool band which otherwise wouldn't have been an option.

Your bright futures scholarship was available to any student in the state of Florida who met the top tier requirements. There's your tuition scholarship I think that you said you got just because of IB. I had that too. Before any other scholarship, my tuition was covered so long as I went to a school in Florida.

Your IB program did nothing for you that I didn't accomplish through a regular high school program. Some of the kids who came out on the other side of the IB program near me did just as well in college as I did, just as some of the people I graduated with. IB did not guarantee anything for you or anyone who has that highschool diploma, they just want it to sound that way.
