Tech CEO Applauds an Employee Selling Off Their Pet Dog to Accommodate Return-to-Office Push | "I challenge any of you to outwork me," Clearlink CEO James Clarke told his staff in a combative and unhinged video call

The stuff about mothers really pisses me off. You will be working almost your entire life but your kids are only going once. We as a country should encourage mothers (both parents really) to spend as much time with their young children as possible in those formative years. My wife and I sacrificed to be able to do so. It was very difficult to balance financially and this was nearly 10 years ago. I imagine it’s damn near impossible to do so on one income today.

To say that it’s not fair to kids or employers to have parents working from home because they can’t devote 100% to either is an insult to people’s intelligence. You know what’s not fair? Making it necessary for parents to hand off infants and young children to expensive day care providers and have them raising your children simply because of some misguided conception by company leadership that people are more productive when they need to commute in and sit at a desk in an office all day. I had hoped that the pandemic shifted this paradigm completely and permanently but apparently more employers are taking a hard line on no remote work.
