Tech Support and Basic Questions Thread - July 18, 2020

I just got a new pc built for me a few days ago. Everything was fine until I turned it on less than an hour ago and it showed a black screen with one white dash on the left upper part of the screen. As far as I know, everything is connected correctly and I haven’t ran the pc to the point where it can over heat. It has 5 fans keeping it cool on the inside so I don’t think that’s it.

I already tried resetting it, shutting it off, pressing alt + F10 (which idk what that does), and escape multiple times while resetting it.

I read that it could be the hard drove or something but I’m not sure what I can do about it. I’m also not sure if it has anything to do with it, but one of the ram sticks are not connected. But the ram stick was like that when I got it. The OS is Microsoft I guess? I don’t know too much about that.

I don’t know much about computers but any help would be appreciated.
