Tech Support and Question Megathread - Week of July 29, 2018

Status: UNRESOLVED

Computer Type: Desktop, custom built

Monitor: LG 34WK650W

GPU: GTX 1080, 8GB of VRAM, no overclock

CPU: Intel Core i5 4590, no overclock

Motherboard: Asrock Pro4 (can't really dig up any other specifics, about to go to bed and really don't feel like digging through a closet for a box, it might be H97M but that's just going off a vague memory)

RAM: 12GB 1600 DDR3 RAM

PSU: EVGA 750w PSU

Operating System & Version: Windows 10 Pro Build 1709

GPU Drivers: 398.82 & 398.36

Description of Problem: My HDR monitor is constantly defaulting to YCbCr422 color format with Limited Output dynamic range. Attempts to change it causes it to instantly revert the moment I hit apply.

Troubleshooting:

  • Cleanly installing drivers
  • Cleanly reinstalling drivers
  • Toggling HDR off & on
  • Rolling back to an older driver (cannot remember which driver I was on previously, so I just went to the one before)
  • Restarting my computer
  • Creating a custom resolution with a slightly different refresh rate (this caused me to be able to set it to RGB color and Full range, but color depth was resetting to 8bpc instead of 10bpc)

If you've got any ideas, I'm more than welcome to hear them. I'd rather not continue sitting on an HDR monitor that can't display most basic colors.
