Teen girl who lied about rape faces 32 years in prison

I wouldnt say its entirely obvious, someone has falsely sent someone to jail before on a false accusation and the person ended up committing suicide from ptsd from what he endured while in prison. That person willingly subjected another innocent person to horrors that brought on his suicide. To me thats the on the same level as a rapist, someone whos subjecting innocent people to horrors.

I don't doubt that there are people who were falsely imprisoned were are so traumatized by their experiences inside the penal system that they took their own lives. But I'd be willing to bet that rape victims are traumatized to the point suicide at a higher rate than innocent people behind bars.

Like if you attempt to murder someone you are a murderer in my eyes, because you had the full intention of taking someones life and went through with it, the fact that you failed doesn’t change your intentions to fully commit to the crime. Therefore in my eyes when someone falsely accuses someone of rape, whether or not the person is convicted that is what you’re trying to do to an innocent person, that to me is as horrible as a rapist.

I see your point here regarding intention. An attempted murderer might be as shitty a person as an actual murderer (just more incompetent) but at the end of the day we live the real world where feelings and ideas are one thing and actions are another. Attempting to murder someone is objectively not as bad as murdering someone. For one simple reason, nobody dies from an attempted murder. Nobody's father, mother, son, sister, brother, or friend disappears from the earth forever.

The same goes for rape vs a rape accusation. With the false rape accusation nobody actually had to experience rape.

Edit: also who gives a fuck if the sentence can be repealed, you are an innocent person spending their time in prison, one of the worst places you can be against your will. And its not like your sentence being repealed happens remotely often enough to consider it a likely chance

I give a fuck and you bet your fucking ass that if you were ever wrongly imprisoned you would too. It gives a person hope and an actual path to vindication. Also successful reversals are not that uncommon at all. They make up around 12% of all filed criminal appeals.

Anyways I'm done arguing. But I'll leave you with a game of would you rather. Would you rather be accused by a teenage girl of rape like the one in the post? Or would you rather be beaten and gang raped by three black guys in the woods?
