Tell me about your LGBTQ characters and how your societies treat them

King Osei I Danquah is* gay. People are fairly indifferent to it except for one thing: He refuses to make gay marriage legal in his province. Gay people who leave, get married, and come back still have their marriages, but no official in his province is allowed to marry two people if they're the same gender. It's because as a royal, people expect him to marry, he doesn't want to, and as a royal he can't be expected to marry outside his country. So it's a fairly cheap and flimsy excuse not to do that.

Dr Miranda Johnson is bi and she's treated well by almost everyone she meets although she, almost alone, is the reason sexual minorities became accepted. She was the most world renowned surgeon for a time, was the model that set beauty standards in the Aurelian Empire, used her superhuman strength to help people on her way to work, was/is a very good singer who made guest appearances for several famous artists, and most importantly is the half human granddaughter of the Emperor, which is where all the previously mentioned abilities come from. When she decided to push gay rights, people listened, and the Emperor was more than happy to legalize them. Without her/a different in-universe Mary Sue, it's likely the Emperor would have continued letting people discriminate even if she herself didn't approve personally.
