Ten years in, nobody has come up with a use for blockchain

I'm not here to argue, and there is no insult intended. I just want to point out the irrationally on both sides, not with you specifically, just in general.

Yes, I do have a background in all of those things, I've had the pleasure to work at a level very few achieve in tech.

Thats a loaded question, I never said blockchain is a market ready solution. I never claimed it's economically viable. You are assuming that distributed ledgers like blockchain are a mature technology and holding it up to unreasonable standards. The space goes far beyond blockchain.

By definition, a centralized replacement for a decentralized system will lose some qualities. There is no free lunch.

And I can give a lot of examples for candidate applications, but that's irellevant. We have a lot more to do before they are viable economically in most cases, and that won't be for a while. If you're investing in Cryptocurrency because you think it will take over the planet with polished implementations in the next few years you're a moron. It will take many years for this technology to really meet the level of maturity you expect, and for us to see real world usage at scale. How long? I don't know.
