[Tenant] Trying to buy rental from landlord—he doesn't want to sell. Anything I can do?

I don’t understand your shade-throwing sentiment...

He & I have a great relationship and I feel for his situation, and want to be (and have been) as compassionate as possible.

But the world doesn’t stop because someone gets sick. If our positions were swapped, he’d want to know: can I still pay the rent? Will I be renewing the lease? Will anyone else be staying in his property to care for me? Who are those people? Does he need to start showing the property? And I wouldn’t be the least bit offended.

When COVID hit, he called me to make sure I wasn’t laid off & the rent was still going to be there even though I’ve never paid a day late—not once in years—and I wasn’t the least bit offended, I understood.

So, I don’t know where you’re coming from, but no one wants to be anything but compassionate here; maybe intent just communicates poorly in written format...
