Tense scenes in Parliament as National stands alone opposing conversion therapy ban law

I think the Key issue with waiting for knowing if they want children, Is the medical community seemingly don’t even think being over 25 is even old enough to know.

I’m 26 and fought 5 years to finally achieve getting sterilized along with an ablation procedure (which makes it very dangerous to get pregnant) this year, my experience has been a stream of “well, you’re too young to know if you want kids and will probably change your mind”. I had to pay out of pocket to have the procedure too, we have a VERY natalist society.

Without going into the PB issue specifically, I just don’t think we should use hypothetical children to deny people healthcare, because it’s already such a prevalent issue for women trying to get proper treatment in the healthcare system, anyway. I could’ve had relief from my agonizing and debilitating periods 5 years ago one of the many doctors had put my needs above my fertility (which I literally didn’t care about since I’ve always been childfree!).

No one should have to suffer for years because their fertility could be at risk, unless the patient wants their fertility to be preserved at all costs - but that’s their choice. Or, at least it should be a choice.
