My very first session, we did the Food Fight run. I went home with the commlink codes of Brandeen, who was grateful to be saved, and Joeby, who owed me a favor because I stabilized his brother. The next morning I pinged both of them to see if they’d gotten home safe and call in on my favor. Both mentioned being tailed, but before I could get a specific location on either of them, their comms were physically destroyed. Brandeen’s SIN said she was a Federated Boeing employee and she said she was staying with her sister in Touristville right before she disappeared. I looked up news for missing FB employees and then looked for FB’s “facebook” or other ‘trix places wageslaves would hang out hoping for gossip. Eventually realized her SIN was fake. I can’t find any news, blogs, or gossip about anyone noticing anything weird happening in TV. I got big fat nothing on Joeby or his friends so far. I never asked about Joeby’s obv fake SIN before his comm was destroyed so there’s no reason for my decker to remember its info, they weren’t important enough to have rumors in the shadows yet, and my decker isn’t quite willing to hack KE to find out what identity the arrested brother gave them. I’m pretty sure I’ve successfully let this trail go cold, but here are some other options I’ve considered: 1) meatspace legwork in TV. I haven’t done this yet because I don’t want to bring in the pots and pans when my decker accidentally insulted a major mafia figure (Joeby said he was the fixer for Brandeen’s hit and mafia man didn’t like hearing rumors he was a babykiller) who operates out of touristville and my streetsam just inadvertantly played kingmaker with him. Also going to an entire borough and asking “Have you seen an elf lady and a probably-screaming baby?” seems a little daunting. 2) see if I can find nearby Babby’s First Fixers who might remember anything useful after blowing off a group of wannabe runners before they got the stuffer shack job

My decker didn’t expect any of this to happen when she was in the Stuffer Shack and afterward had bigger fish to fry, but if those conditions weren’t the case, what could she have done differently to get better results?
