Tesla: An Update to Our Vehicle Lineup

I do agree the constant line-up changes and stores opening/closing debacle is all ridiculous.

not to mention the whole Panasonic debacle, in which thread the most-upvoted comment is "I don't really get what the news is here", lol.

Ah yes. An unconfirmed rumor from an unknown source with virtually zero details of any kind.

Surely this is something we should take very seriously. Or, we could just wait until we got some sort of more credible information on this, considering the amount of false rumors that circulates around Tesla, until we decide to get even a little bit excited.

In this release, they claim to release first within a week, yet still: it was supposed to be an EV for the masses, yet by all means, it seems to be a rare limited edition that barely anyone will actually get while they continue to bait&switch customers into more expensive trims.

So long as the people that made orders/reservations with the promise of a 35K model do get that option, I really don't see the issue. Past that, I couldn't care less whether Tesla continues to sell a Model 3 for $35K or not. I do think it's stupid customers have to call in, but not the end of the world ultimately.

"EV for the masses" is just an empty marketing slogan, I have no idea why we even talk about it like it means something really specific.

A 35K EV is only slightly more attainable than a 39.5K EV for the average person. Most people can't afford either. It was just Tesla's way of advertising "Hey guys, this cars costs less than those other ones we sell", because "An EV for a lot more people than the Model S but most of you still can't afford it" didn't quite have a ring to it.
