Tesla and other EV buyers could soon be eligible for $7,500 federal tax credits under senate deal

this was done at the behest not of tesla, but of General Motors

It was done at the behest of all the car companies.

'In June, the CEOs of Ford, GM, Toyota US, and Stellantis wrote to lawmakers asking for the cap to be lifted, claiming it limited their ability to sell vehicles, Reuters first reported. '

It has nothing to do with "international EVs".

The criteria is all buyers with under $150,000/yr income ($300K filing jointly) buying a new EV (>7kWh battery) which costs less than $80K can get a credit. Even on imports.

It also says that buyers with under $75,000/yr ($150K filing jointly) buying a used EV which costs less than (I forget the number, substantially less than $80K) can get a credit. Again, even on imports.

Can we please stop upvoting this nonsense rant above?

This has nothing to do with GM vs. international car companies.
