THIS is the Tesla TRUCK? OK for military maybe but nobodys gonna want THAT in their driveway.

Who says you're the target audience for the vehicle? Lots of people buy and use things I'd never touch. If it had a standard style bed would you buy it? Probably not. I'm going to say that the kind of person who'd buy this truck aren't really going to care about it. It's not that bad of a deal.

I'd say the Honda Ridgeline is our basis of measuring this trucks design due to the similar layout. The kind of people who buy them are not standard truck buyers, and I'd bet this truck wasn't designed for standard truck buyers.

If I wanted to compare trucks to the recent gold standard of trucks I'd compare everything to the first Gen Ford Raptor. This truck will offer similar performance to the raptor. The bed has a ridge stopping you from reaching into it from the front unlike a raptor. Fully loaded will be 2.9 0 to 60, tow 14000lbs awd. Those specs hold up next to a raptor. With a less practical bed but a superior rigidity and strength. Repair and everything else will cost more than a raptor though, but the idea is you shouldn't need to repair it.

All in all its not a classic truck design. Anyone who judges it as bad based off the fact it's not standard isn't the target audience. It's like calling a model s a shit car just because it doesn't use a standard gas engine. You're judging it by metrics that they didn't care about because it doesn't matter to them.
