Here is the idea: Type of skill check tournament where they have to pick all of the skill checks before hand.

I was going to set this all in a dream sequence because that is an easy cliche way to start something like this.

I would ask each player to select following: *Any three skills of your choice *A Wis/Int skill *A Cha/Con skill *A Str/Dex skill

Tournament Tree

clone

. / | \

1 A B C

. | \ |\ | \

2 A B C x

. | \ | \ | \

3 A B C x

. | \ | \ | \

. T! T t x

It starts out with the player facing a clone of themselves. They perform the three skill checks (with all sorts of DM flair to make it exciting). The DM rolls for the clone, once for each skill check. *If the player beats the clone (2 out of 3) in a straight skill competition they move to 1A. *If they beat the clone in a skill vs corresponding ability competition (eg. Athletics check for player vs Str check for clone) they move to 1B. *If they lose to the clone they move to 1C.

Level 1 is Int/Wis checks. 1A is hard, 1B is medium and 1C is easy with a guardian of sorts that they need to get past. 1A would be a wise old wizard, 1B would be a street smarts sort of character and 1C would be an oaf. I was thinking of making slightly different DCs for the different skills as well (1A - Nature DC 16, History DC 15) so that their choices actually make a difference.

If the player fails at 1A they move to 2B, If they fail at 1B they move to 2C and if the fail at 1C they are out and don't get any reward.

It would continue like this for level 2 and 3. Treasures depend on what rank they end up on A, B or C.

Thoughts recommendations?
