This makes me so mad. I'm on the internet so no one will believe me, but I live In this neighborhood. This story will forever change the way I look at media stories.
This story was twisted by the media, of course for attentions, ratings, and traffic.
We have 2-4 community pools, I have only been to the one In the video and the one right next to my house but I think there are more, anywho these pools can only be accessed with a card that opens the gate. As expected you have to be a resident to obtain said card.
Well one of the actual residence posted on twitter that there would be a pool party at that pool on that day, and it blew up. Tons of kids showed up, most of them not actual members of the neighborhood, they entered by jumping the fence until the gate was opened by one of the kids who did have a card. There is no drinking permitted at the community pools, but most of the kids were drinking, yelling, and throwing empty bottles into the streets.
A mom in a house on the same the same street went to go ask for the kids to stop making so much noise and her kids followed her down the street when she went (They hired a DJ who set up huge speakers), I'm sure she wasn't as polite as she could have been while asking them to keep their volume down but I don't blame her this neighborhood is very expensive because of the community and the fact that Mckinney is a very safe area. Just to put it in perspective If I drove 40 minutes from Mckinney into Garland I could buy the same size house I have now for $70,000-90,000 less, which is in part why she was mad I'm sure. Well one of the drunken party members didn't like that she asked them to turn the volume down and they got into an argument, which in the end resulted in the mother getting beat up in front of her 3 kids. Shortly after this, neighborhood security was called, and of course they were overwhelmed and unable to help, and at that point the cops were called.
The officers showed up thinking this was serious, which I agree once a mother is beaten up in front of her kids it's no longer a party it's a crime, and I'm sure came with every intention of making sure this party was stopped immediately.
Well, all of these drunk kids were being real smart with the officers, some even running away leading to a chase.
Well anyway, you can watch the video yourself and see why the cop pulled his gun. He was being surrounded by multiple people at once while in a high pressure situation. Also notice he didn't even point it at anybody, he just wanted to send a warning that he will protect himself and it worked.
This was not a color issue. The kids on the curb ran from the cops and got caught, the girl who got arrested didn't like that her friends got arrested and wouldn't move from the scene as requested by the police officer.
Of course kids of other ethniciies got arrested, but thats not on this video. Neither is the mother of 3 children getting beaten up on this video, and neither is the bottle throwing on the video.
Don't believe everything you read and see. What cops do can easily be taken out of context because of what they are entitled to do when it is necessary, but of course If you don't see why the cops are doing it, it seems like they are dicks on a power trip.
