Agreed - I misinterpreted your tone on your original response. For that, I apologize and appreciate the advice.

I called TD today to have the amount transferred. Thankfully, i had some liquidity in USD that, with decent FX, didn't really hit me. However, I did try to have the TD Agent transfer what remained in my TFSA savings into my TFSA direct investing account and he could not do it.

He said I had two options - either have him out in a request which would take 5-6 days to process, or go into a Branch. I pushed him and asked for him to speak to a senior - he came back and said it couldn't be done 'immediately'.i then walked him through the file notes from last year and asked how is it that they could do this immediately and you, while you are correct, can't. His response: 'I don't know, but they shouldn't have done it'.

I'm getting ammo because the tax and penalties here could be absolutely ridiculous.
