Fair point, James is consistent and not scooping to childish insults. The other guy doesn't seem to acknowledge the conditions the Soviets were fighting in.
Fighting for survival against a genocidal enemy, in wartime conditions you want a good enough tank now, not a superb tank next year. The T-34 was already in production, it was cheap and was designed to last 6 months. If it survived battle after 6 months it was serviced, to extend the service life a major service included an engine/trans overhaul and the tank was rotated back into combat units.
The major difference was the Soviets had spare parts available and sufficient support services. An easy upgrade made it a Tiger killer. In a war of attrition, this is a good thing and it paid off.
