[Thamel] Willie Taggart just confirmed to @yahoosports that he’s going to be the next coach at Florida Atlantic.

I wish that it hadn't felt like some of the intolerance my fellow fans had for him was based upon his race

Maybe I live in this little reddit bubble, but I've seen 0 indication of that and people just assuming it. I don't go on twitter though.

Taggart was welcomed with open arms. But the intolerance for Taggart was based on his performance and everything that went to shit since he stepped on campus. Bringing our worst season in 36 years and showing minimal improvement in some areas and regression in other areas. His inability to coach, which we were sold on his offensive mind, and then driving both his OCs so crazy they were looking for new jobs halfway through each season (supposedly). Not recruiting a qb for 2 years- allowing Howell to dictate that he was the only qb in the class and then getting screwed when he flipped and then making the same mistake the next year and not allowing Briles to offer the qb he wanted because Sims was his guy. The mess of the internals of the program. The social media blunders- the MLK tweet was his social media guy. Fucking up with Kelly and moving him off field and shorting us a coach for a year. Complete apathy on the sidelines, complacency is contagious. Hiring a bunch of staff that were not good at their jobs- my main gripe is the S&C coach who was not even qualified to be coaching at this level. Stupid slogans that didn't even make sense.

Definitely not a bad person at all. I hated having him here but I don't hate him at all.

He did a couple things right. He was great at identifying underrated recruits (helton, young), a lot of players and their families loved him, he donated a million to the program (or was going to) while Jimbo bitched about not having enough money but didn't donate a dime, brought in some good staff with Briles, Clements, Dugans, loved Fsu.

Fsu was a big job and he just wasn't the guy. I hope he does well. I am happy it is somewhere else but Fsu or Usf though.

(This was a bit of a rant, but perhaps fau fans would be interested in the pros and cons of his time here).
