“Thank you for your service.”

Bullshit. I've two citizenships and one (the non-American one) has a military parade that Trump attempted to copy on independence day, countries all over the world are proud of those that fight for their country.

Like it or not servicemen and women from the US fought back against the worst regimes of the 20th Century: Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, Imperialist Japan. Perhaps someone who served in Iraq or Afghanistan or elsewhere can't directly say they contributed to quite a fight as we had in WW2, but it's still a fact that throughout our history that America's military and servicemen and sevicewomen have purchased our liberties with their blood, going back to the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, WW1 (against European nationalism) and then WW2 (against fascism).

You want to boast how special you are for having done nothing to alter the course of history, congrats, but I'll always salute members of the military in both my nations for going above and beyond the call of duty for people around the world.
