Thanks to all who helped without having to be shamed into it.

They have raised money but that doesn't make supplies magically appear immediately. You need to set up stable infrastructure to make sure that the right supplies get to the right places with the correct people. That takes time and planning. not to mention the flooding will slow down what is already a slow process.

I agree the guy is scum, but that's no excuse to create toxicity. This is a time when we need to come together as a community. People make mistakes in a crisis, hell some people just lack empathy(I wouldn't be surprised if Joel does) but responding to his indifference with hate is not the answer. And attacking Joel's character should not be a priority for anyone.

The events that have occurred in houston and across the world in Nepal, India and Bangladesh need to serve as reminders of the power of community and what we as humans can accomplish when we come together to help one another. It's sad that this story about Joel is what makes front page instead of different relief efforts you can get involved in. There's plenty to get involved in that is more constructive than spewing hate about a guy we already know is slimey.
