Thanks for helping me out this past week Firaxis!

So long story short, this past week has sucked.. I drove home Thursday night to help my grandparents prep for Hurricane Irma in Tampa. On I4, coming from Orlando, one mile before my exit, I was hit in a hit and run by some big Ram pickup truck, and my poor Camry was totaled. Police came, but admitted with everything going on with the hurricane, they would not really be focusing on the driver. In all honesty I don't have a clue how I wasn't injured, the driver had to have been going anywhere from 90-100 mph,but thank Toyota for a safe car I guess!

Well after getting home finally, and having the car declared totaled by the inspector, I realized that returning to Orlando before the storm was not going to be possible, I was stranded in Tampa riding out Irma . After a couple days of boarding windows for my parents and grandparents, Irma was there. Luckily everyone was okay in Tampa, both houses survived with minimal damage, although my parents house lost power. We had heard of looters in the area, so I volunteered to hold out in the house with a generator running the fridge, a couple fans, and a tv.

I quickly grabbed my laptop, replaced one of the fans with my charging cable, and set up a game while listening to Dan Carlin's Hardcore History show. that I had purchased. As I sat there, in my boxers, sweating my ass off I came to the conclusion that this series has gotten me through a ton in life.

From being a kid playing Civ 3 and just lining up a ton of samurai, in the middle of nowhere just to make it look cool, to growing up and playing the rest of the series for easily thousands of hours. I always would play Civilization. I remembered hurting my legs in football when I was in middle school, and playing on the couch for weeks while I couldn't go to classes. Then in highschool when one of my highschool crushes broke up with me. To now studying in college I always was able to turn to this series.

It sounds super sappy, but playing in that hot ass house, in the middle of a hurricane really improved my mood, and lifted my spirits. Allowed me to put things in perspective and just be thankful for my safety, and my families safety, and just having had the ability to enjoy a game during some downtime. Anyone else who was hit by the storm, I hope you are doing well, and hope we can all recover together and get back to some normalcy soon.

Tldr - Hurricanes suck, generators rock, hit and runs suck, looters suck, and Civ Rocks
