Makes fuck all sense if other industries/sports are operating like that, it literally does not operate like that here in football.

You don't ask your most important player in his peak at 29 for a paycut. It'd make more sense to offer him a 3 year contract with same/increased wages and then lower his wages at the end of that contract when he's in his mid 30s.

I don't know how much clearer it has to be for you to understand that it's not standard practice in football at all lol
