Theoretically, would a Nissan Leaf be the least expensive car for me to own?

Ummm, what are you talking about? As a former Nissan Leaf owner, you've got no oils to replace and about a dozen moving parts compared to hundreds in a gas vehicle or hybrid. Most of the savings of an EV are on maintenance! This is also coincidentally why dealerships hate to sell electric vehicles. Most of the revenue from a dealership actually comes from service and electric vehicles take longer to make a sale due to the time to takes to explain to new customers. It's much easier to direct the customer away from the car they want and potentially even lose a commission. There's only one thing that can go badly wrong and that's losing the traction battery entirely, which is extremely rare.
