[theOSINTblog] ISIS in Afghanistan Pt.2: Wilayat Khorasan's Leadership Structure

They were defeated by the Taliban in Farah as of 31st May 2015 Commanders were killed and recruits absorbed into the Taliban's fighting forces. They did however release the (former Talib) leader.

This is correct; however, the destruction of a relatively small IS-K presence in Farrah does not equate to the group losing ground as a whole in the Af-Pak region. Farrah was also not mentioned at all in the post.

The Taliban have claimed to destroyed the cell in Zabul. November 2015

The Taliban claimed to have destroyed the cell. However, they also claimed to have killed/captured Uthman Ghazi as well. The recent interview with Hafiz Saeed Khan in Dabiq 13 (released in January after Jalalabad attacks) mentions that the Taliban attacked the "uzbeki mujahid brothers" and that "uzbeki mujahid" took heavy casualties. There was no mention of Uthman Ghazi's death and the Taliban has produced no evidence of his capture or death despite their claim that he was captured. The only thing that is certain and confirmed is that clashes occurred and IMU took significant casualties and lost significant territory. Thus, it is unclear if there is an IS-K presence or not in Zabul at the moment. News outlets seem to have jumped the gun and taken the Taliban's statements as fact.

ISIS growth has not ceased in Afghanistan and Pakistan??? Really?! Please aid us in understanding your perspective, like I said someone shouldnt have to ask for sources from your blog, they should be provided, if you wish to make such claims at least back them up with some evidence, otherwise they should be dismissed as conjecture.

The designation of IS-K as an FTO in January, the massive uptick of drone strikes in Nangarhar, ongoing recruitment in Ghazni, the destruction of the radio station in Nangarhar, increased media coverage, Lashkar-e-Islam joining IS-K, arrests of IS-K recruiters in Behsood, etc. The 4th write-up on the blog will have data of IS-K linked incidents, as well as drone strikes and mapping of presence in Afghanistan. Please note that this is a 4 part series and this write-up is the 2nd installment of that series.

The lack of citations in this post is due to the vast majority of the information being from primary sources (Dabiq articles, IS-K videos, IS-K combat footage, IMU bayah videos, Al-Hayat press releases, etc). We will message you a list of references to primary sources as soon as possible.
