Therapist says that there is nothing we can do to change the system we live in

It might also be true that you don't have the capacity to work your current job or any job at all full time due to illness or some other issue. You might have different capacity for different type of work, for example maybe you can spend endless hours creating music, but only 20 hours of customer service work a week. I used to work at call centre where we sold magazines to grannys, but I was absolutely destroyed every day and quit after a week and got into construction site instead and could do that full time with some effort. In my programming job I am able to work 60 hours a week easily out of my own free will, I'm not trying to brag, I realize from most people's perspective it's probably sad to work 60 hours, but I'm just wired that way and find it it fun. I just wanted to highlight that there can be a dramatic difference between different types of work and how hard or easy you find working full time or even part time.

I think you can and should find your own way of living and try to work towards a better future, but you should also be ready to accept that you need to do it withing the environment that you are living in.
