This is true, but should not divert from the fact that the government has been winning the war against the middle class for the last few decades. The middle and poor classes would be an order of magnitude better off without this government interference. In fact, if not for drastic improvements in technology, the middle class would have been doomed. Currently we have the best iphones, but the system gouges the hell out of us in every other category such as health care, college education, housing, and regulations that lock out competition. If left to function in a free market, prices in these areas would have decreased drastically a long time ago instead of going up.
