Is there any benefit for buying a car at the end of the year vs. beginning of the new year?

Yes. You can get good deals because dealerships will want to get rid of all of the models from that year. They don't want an inventory of last year's cars, it's not very good for business.

Another reason is some desired models might be phased out the following year. For instance, 2019 is the last year of the front engine Corvette because it's going to be replaced by a rear engine version in 2020. Also, Mercedes is phasing out their V12 engines so 2018 is the last year to order a S65.

Sometimes next year's models go on sale in November and December, so it's good to place an order early before the factory is saturated with orders.
