Is there any point to talking in PPD when the two sides seem fundamentally irreconcilable?

Let's hypothetically say I was a real die-hard Red Pill advocate. You can substitute Blue Pill, it doesn't matter. Let's say that I'm deeply convicted in the idea, and want to see it thrive. Who's my real threat? Blue Pill? Hardly, those people are morons and totally misguided. No, my real threat is Purple Pill, or Maroon Pill, or whatever color mix you want. Blue Pill, with it's ridiculous caricature of my side, they're going to get no converts (except when someone totally flips). But someone who says "well, TRP is right descriptively, just not essentially or prescriptively," that man's an actual threat to my position. That's the one who's likely to garner converts. It's the People's Front of Judea{TV TROPES WARNING}: I hate you because we almost agree.

If you want to describe debate as pointless, that's your choice. But IRL I know and love people who are far more SJW than most redditors ever encounter (like gone to jail over it), but not only can we be friends, I can get them to entertain RP concepts. Not all of TRP, but nor do I agree with all of TRP. I really don't think that we're the unicorns here, but you do have to have an honest commitment to synthesis. And I think that the people most invested in writing off the other side as totally hopeless are more interested in buttressing their own value on their side.

So, no, I don't, and I think that most of the people advocating the idea of impossibility, red or blue side, are doing so for their self-aggrandizement. If nothing else, there's a certain portion of people willing to get involved in PPD who are that fraction of each side particularly interested in absorbing and debating questions of gender dynamics. People can come with divergent views and a committment to discuss: and with value in the discussion even if it doesn't "go" anywhere.
