is there any way for a public university to get around a “freedom of speech” claim to properly discipline a racist student for hate speech directed at students while on campus?

being racist is not at all equivalent to being “stupid.” this is a flagrant display of racist hate speech, and this and following actions noted in the news articles (if you read them prior to making your judgment) are indicative of an individual who will go on to be racially prejudiced in his future career. for someone who could potentially be a future doctor, lawyer, or any other profession where he is in charge of black lives, it should be very clear why this is an issue that should be taken more seriously.

if this is how you speak to potential clients, i find your rhetoric to be particularly abhorrent, unprofessional, and very assumptive. i am asking for legal advice on a human rights issue. this is not a political subreddit, so i don’t understand why you are providing your political and personal opinions instead of real legal advice, or making ad hominem attacks when you know nothing about me.
