Is there *anything* anyone could have said or done to get through to you?

So I wanyed6 to transition from a young young age before I had the word for it. I remember in high school (like 15ish) reading a lot of gender theory I saw the word genderfluid and demisexual and I was like oh yeah I have both male and female interests and I usually only want to have sex with someone only after getting to know them. I told my friend who was an older guy and he was like "...you probably shouldnt tell anyine that bevause it'll make your life a lot harder" and that snapped me out of it. I decided to transition later on, I'm very glad I didn't start before I was 21 since there were so many ways I changed through the years. Before I transitioned I stop reading all the pro trans stuff and wenr to therapy for dysphoria and trauma and something that really helped my decision to transition or not was a series of thought experiments, life questions, and a lot of introspection. Reading forums like this helped me make a more informed decision, also reading about women abroad helped me get out of the mindset that sex didn't matter.
