Is there anyway to opt out?

So basically it's going to her and come next tax season I've got to pay 1200 bucks back in money I'm not even gonna get.. so this crap is costing me money

False. This doesn't cost you anything.

Yes, this is an advance on your tax return for next year but also the amount of your tax return was increased accordingly. If you want to stick it to your ex, then that's between you and her. But don't play it off as "it's costing me money". Source Source
