It was a few years ago that something like this happened to me. Now I've been disabled since I was 11. I was 30 before I broke down and got a handicapped placard and I try not to use the thing unless I totally need to. I saw this man in a suped up truck pull into the handicap parking spot no special plates or placard showing. I was parked a few spots down and as I walked by I checked to see if the placard was forgotten but I couldn't see it anywhere. I saw an elderly man drive by and park several spots further down than me even and hobble into the store, his plates clearly visible. I was so mad I called non emergency told the lady the situation. An officer happened to be in the area and he came over and wrote the driver a ticket. As he was finishing the driver came out screaming and yelling that handicapped people are no more important they don't deserve the spots. I and the officer walked him down to the spot the other gentleman parked in, showed him the plates along with the veterans decal in the window. I then advised the man if he wants to park in that spot he could take my disability and elderly mans disability and all the pain and suffering we go through daily too. I remember being so angry, yelling at him, the cop standing there listening as I said "I didn't asked to have my life destroyed at 11, I was going to play basketball join the navy and have a couple kids but that is NEVER going to happen." I was seeing red I was so angry. The guy was embarrassed as a crowded appeared and listened. He took the ticket and left. I don't normally care, assholes are assholes but when you are a dick that way I'm gonna school your ass.
